In a New Year’s letter, the boss of Tsuburaya Productions made big plans for 2024. These ideas were built on what they did in 2023.
Decentralizing the future with blockchain
Last year, blockchain was talked about more. Kiryu said again that their company is still looking into what it can do. Previously, President Yosuke Matsuda thought that games on the blockchain were important. He believed these different games use a self-supporting decentralized model because traditional gaming is centralized nowadays. Also, he noticed more people talking about “Web3” and the Japanese government giving support in making it better. This year, Square Enix will change its company structure and use resources better to put more money into this exciting technology.
The Creative Revolution of Artificial Intelligence
Kiryu agreed that AI has made a big change, especially with the growth of models like ChatGPT. He pictures using AI strongly everywhere in Square Enix’s activities, from making content to publishing.
“Generative AI has the potential to reshape what we create and the process of doing so,” he stated. By using AI’s power to be creative, the company wants not only to improve current stuff but also create completely new types of good work.
Bridging the Real and Virtual
The metaverse is now more than just a dream for the future. Kiryu saw more and more people using a new tech called VR and AR, making pretend worlds closer to the real world. He said, “The value of digital content got much better.” This happens because virtual experiences become more complete and interesting. In 2024, Square Enix wants to make new things. They hope these will mix the real and pretend worlds seamlessly giving people thrilling experiences of many kinds.
